PETER MALOTA, EXCELLENCE IN ARTS AWARD

Legendary filmmaker Peter Malota is honored with the Excellence in Arts Award at the 6th Edition of New York Albanian Film Week. The award recognizes Mr. Malota for his creations and contributions to the excellence of the arts. The award is given to outstanding artists who have demonstrated lifetime achievement in art.

The award was presented to Mr. Malota by Ermira Babamusta and Enkelejd Mezini at the Opening Ceremony held at the SVA Theatre on May 26, 2017. New York Albanian Film Week (now named International Filmmaker Festival of New York) is produced by Nil Production and Mrika Krasniqi to promote arts and culture as a vehicle for economic development.

Peter Malota is best known for his appearances in films starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. He has over 40 years Tae Lwon Do/Hapkido experience. In 1984, Malota made his film debut in a small role in Furious and then played a member of a syndicate gang in the action movie Ninja Turf. In 1991, Malota began to work with Van Damme. 1991’s Double Impact, where he played an assassin with kicking skills with knives in his shoes. Nowhere to Run, in which he is seen playing the convict Van Damme tries to free, but is killed. In 1996’s The Quest. In this film, Malota puts his kicking skills to use again as he played the Spanish fighter that Van Damme fights in the tournaments. He returns as a costar in Van Dammes Honor. Over the past 26 years Peter has worked as a Fight/Stunt Coordinator on 25 films.

Peter Malota recently completed his new action film “Kill’em All”, starring  Peter StormareJean-Claude Van DammeAutumn Reeser; written by Jesse Cilio, Brian Smolensky, and Craig Stewart; directed by Peter Malota. Some of his notable works includes Ninja Turf, Double Impact, Nowhere to Run, The Quest
